Hi,
I see that you said they lived in Baltimore. You are on the right path. You
need to look at more US records to find a village name. Lublin is a region
as well as a larger city in Poland. Most ancestors wrote down the largest
city to their village, or their region. It is not enough information to find
records in Poland.
You need to use a few other tricks. Try and find his naturalization
papers, too. Looks like the clerk wrote his naturalization number on the ship
manifest when it was double checked: 4X5162-505-8-14-40
I believe I found his ship manifest using http://stevemorse.org (Gold Form)
I found him using his name in Polish : Piotr Przylepa
It gives a village for him:
Przylepa, Piotr
Grubinz, Russia
age 26
born 1881
arrived 1907
He will be listed as a Russian Pole. Poland was divided for 123 years into
German Poland, Austrian Poland , and Russian Poland.
There are other men coming from that area on the manifest.
I will work on finding a proper spelling for the village and see if the
records have been filmed by the FHL. The records after 1863 will be in the
Russian language. I have the name of a researcher in Salt Lake that I use
when I need someone to pull records from Russian Poland and translate them.
