Dear Don,

$12.00 may not be unreasonable is someone has to go through 4,5 or 6 reels of microfilm looking for a death notice or an obituary. It takes a while to look at each day. Think it takes me about 20 minutes or so if I have to look at an entire reel. Someone who died in January could have died on the last day which would mean that a person looking for the notice would have at least 3 reels of film each for both the Detroit papers (they have about 2 weeks worth of papers on each reel). Even when the notices are in alphabetical order I try to scan the entire page because sometimes, every once in while, one of the notices is out of order. Plus there is the cost of gas and parking if one goes to either the main Detroit Public library or the library in Lansing. Think it costs about $5.00-$7.00 now around the Detroit library unless one goes on Saturday and can park free in the employee parking lot.
