Message Board Post:

I found the inlaws in the 1880 census in Stanchfield with one of the sons as head of household. I did not find Nils anywhere, went to look at the 1875 census of Isanti and the copy I have is so light it is virtually unreadable, if anyonw knows where there is a readable copy, please let me know, especially if I can buy a copy. The only other thing would be to read the papers for the area between 1871 or whenever they went to Isanti and the time they died to see if they are in the paper, plus all the suggestions that Jim made.
The papers can be obtained on inter libraray loan from Minnesota Historical Society. They are on microfiche. some may be in Swedish. My feeling is they went by another name other than either Nicholson or Lomell. I do not find them in the cemetery records of Isanti that I have, although there are a couple of cemeteries I do nothave copies of the stones, the rest of the family does not show up either on them, so wonder if they are buried on their farm. I find Martha Lomell in the 1898 atlas in section 15 of Stanchfield. so there is property and perhaps they were not in Oxford, but in Stanchfield. J. P Johnson has land in section 12 and 13 which are right on the line with Chisago County. Perhaps she bought the land after Nils died. It is in her name not the name of her second husband, when did she remarry? There are other Johnsons with land in the same area, section 14 as well as 12 and 13, so land records might be very promising to you.
