Surname: MAROSE
-------------------------
I have evidence from three separate obituaries (from other family members)
that a Great-Grand Uncle of mine (August Marose) lived in Farmington, although
I have not been able to find anything on him since his arrival in the U.S.
with the family in 1884. The obits were from the Chaska Valley Herald,
dated Mar 1922, Jul 1923 and Feb 1946 when he attended the funerals of
his step-mother, his father, and his brother. The obits mentioned a wife
and at least one son, but no names were given. August apparently lived
in Farmington (Dakota County) for more than a twenty-five year spread.
I checked the 1920 census for Dakota county with no luck. I went to the
Dakota county courthouse, but found no records of birth, marriage, or death.
The February 1946 piece in the Chaska Valley Herald had an interesting
"twist." It listed one of the pall bearers as August Marose of Farmington.
Later in the snippet, it listed attendees as Mr and Mrs August ROSEN and
son(s) of Farmington. A search of the local cemeteries (listed on-line
thanks to Debbie Boe) came up with the August ROSEN family buried in St
Michael's Catholic cemetery on the NE side of Farmington. August's dates
are 1876 - 1960. Going back to the passenger list when he arrived in the
U.S., MY August was 8 years old -- which means he would have been born
in 1876 as well! Did August change his name from MAROSE to ROSEN ?
I NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP HERE !!!!
ANYONE UP FOR A CHALLENGE ???? I'd really rather NOT wait until 2002 for
the 1930 census...I can't get back to Dakota County as I live in OKLAHOMA.
