Message Board Post:
John Van Slyke and his wife Emily Patterson, daughter of James Patterson and Dolly (Polly?)___, moved to Elmore, Faribault Co.,
Minnesota, in 1869 from a farm in Pendleton, Niagara County, New York. They were accompanied by their children Emily, Irene, Monroe, Jessie (Jesse), John A., and Delevan. Another son, Chauncy, remained in Niagara County, while an elder son Delevan, for whom the younger was named, died serving in the
Union Army in the Civil War and was buried in Arlington National Cemetary. Several other children died in infancy.
Emily Patterson Van Slyke died in Elmore in 1886 and John died in 1891. Their elder daughter Emily married John Edgar Bush and moved to Northfield, Rice County, Minnesota, while their younger daughter Irene married Henry Conklin and eventually moved to Washington State. John A. also moved to Washington State after living for awhile in Blue Earth, Faribault County.
Jessie (Jesse), Monroe, and Delevan lived in Elmore for some time following their parents deaths. Jesse, who inherited the family farm, married Fanny Young and left the area. Delevan
married Maude McArthur, who died before 1900; after that, he may have left the area. Monroe was living in Elmore at least until 1910.
Looking to connect with descendants or other relatives of any of the above.
