ANSWER:
St. Peter is the county seat for Nicollet County, Minnesota. It is in
the south central part of the state.
St. Peter was looked at in the pioneer days of Minnesota as a possible
capital city for the state.
A bill successfully passed in the legislature during the 1850s to move
the seat of government there, but the legal document was literally stolen
and hidden, thus the capital remains in St. Paul.
You may have heard of St. Peter in the national news about two years ago,
when a terrible devastating tornado ripped through the town, leveling
dozens of buildings. Fortunately, the death toll was quite small.
