Subject: [MNHENNEP] AYD family... Favor

I'd like to ask a HUGE favor of some kind soul living near the border between
Hennepin and Wright Counties. My GGGGrandfather is burried in St. Michael's
Cemetery in St. Michael, Wright County, Minnesota. His name was John K.
"Cajetan" Ayd (1799-1867). He and his brother's and children along with some
other family and friends helped to found the parish church and town of St.
Michael in the 1860's. The family operated a ferry that ran between St.
Michael and Dayton near the mouth of the Crow River.

His old homestead in Ramsey County is now at the center of a controversy in
St. Paul, and will either become a city park or be bulldozed and paved into a
freeway connection.

I'm writing an article about him and his contributions to the Twin City area
in hopes that it might bolster support for the park plan. I'd dearly love to
be able to include a photo of his tombstone (last known to be beneath a large
pine tree in St. Michael's Cemetery in the 1970's) and also a photo of St.
Michael's Catholic church which he and his friends founded.

I live in Missouri, and am not able to make it to Minnesota in the near
future. Would someone who lives in the area be willing to take the photos
for me? I'd be glad to give you "photo by..." credit should my article be
published.

Thanks,

Ken Weber,
Columbia, Missouri
