You might start with the town where they lived in Iowa. See if she is buried
in the local cemeteries or if there is some record of her death.
If not - then you may need to search cemeteries in the area where he lived in
Minnesota and see if anything comes up for her. This of course assumes that
she died and that they didn't divorce. If you can't find a death record (and
they were not always reported in MN prior to 1907) then you might check for
court records, again starting in Iowa and working up to Hennepin County.
You might get a clue also by searching for the 4 children in the 1900 census
and see where they were living. If they remained in Iowa, chances are that
the parents lived there until the children were adults, so Betsey probably
died in Iowa. If they were in Minnesota, then she probably died in MN.

The real annoyance is this is a 20 year span because of no 1890 census - I
have the same deal, knowing my great great grandfather died during that time
frame and being unable to discover when or where.
