Thanks Lynne

I checked with our local library and they do not have a subscription to any
of the genealogy sites. They said funding cutbacks forced them to stop all
the subscriptions for all the services they used to offer.
But I have the Ancestry.com subscription so I am fine.
For those that can use Heritage Quest then that works, if not I hope I gave a
bit of help.

I have also found that in the 1860 census the spelling is atrocious. They
even spelled Crystal Lake - CHrystal. That makes searching by surname always
a challenge. So folks may find it useful to have both resources at their
finger-tips, at least they will know if they are in the right neighborhood.
I will abandon the idea of doing an index for 1860 - no point in reinventing
the wheel since it is done somewhere and people can get access.

Thanks for the info.
Jo
