Hi!

I wanted to let everyone know that I was able to locate the South Dewey
Mining Co. Claudia's help was great because it got me to thinking...and
sometimes a new thread of thought is good!

The company was from South Dakota. I contacted the corporate divison of SD
(another suggestion) and received a prompt (!!!) response back that the
company had done business there. It must have been a short time in business
as there are only 5 pages in the file. :-) Those copies will be on their
way shortly.

Also, if you keep looking you eventually find the right place and the right
person! Walt, the Patent Reference Library at the Minneapolis Public
Library, found the patent that Anna Durkee had obtained in 1913!

I was so excited to have TWO great finds in one day! I tried wading thru
the US Patent database and I knew I was in over my head! Because they were
so old, the US Patent office wasn't much help. Thankfully Walt knew how to
find what I needed!
