Jerry Lee Bishop, 49, a resident of International Falls, Minnesota since childhood, died Monday afternoon, July 5, 1993 at Falls Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1943 at Roseau, Minn. and came to the Falls as a child. He attended the Falls school but upon entering the fifth grade was striken with a brain tumor which resulted in his blindness.
He was well versed on politics and also social problems, and never lost his sence of humor. One of his favorite jokes was about his seeking employment as a night truck driver with Braille headlights.
Bishop also had a habit of checking doors of business places after closing time and if he found any open would contact the police and they appreciated his interest.
Survivors include his mother, Gladys; one sister, Carol Pieper and husband Robert of Azusa, Calif; four brothers, Herbert Bishop and wife Sue of Boone, Iowa; Larry Bishop of Madrid, Iowa; James Bishop and wife Ann of Dadota City, Neb; and Jack Bishop and wife Elaine of New York Mills, Minn.
Services will be held Fri. July 9 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran church. The Rev. Gary Boen will officiate with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Thurs. July 8 at the Cudmore Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
The family would appreciate memorials in lieu of flowers in his memory.
