Hi,
I own both Vol. I and II. Your James Lamm appears in Vol. I, PP 125 & 163.
Text as follows:
P. 125
"THE NEXT SETTLERS
There may, possibly, have been a few others, but certain it is that the
following named persons constituted the principal first settlers in what is
now Nicollet County: James Lamm and Louis Hanson, in Lake Prairie township;
L. D. and S.D. Parsons and Frank Mason, in Belgrade township; Joshua Post
and Jack Hamilton, in Nicollet township; Martin Walser, Alexander Harkins,
John and James Robinson, in West Newton township; Jacob Harmon , in Courtland
township."

p. 163 This section is about Lake Prairie township.
"FIRST EVENTS
It is generally believed that the pioneer settler of the township was James
Lamm, who came in the summer of 1853. In August, of the same year, came Louis
Hanson, and in July, 1854, Nelson Norman, Elias Larson, Binnell Nelson and
Mr. Lubliff, with their families. The settlers then came in quite rapidly for
a time, but the Civil War hindered such settlement.
The first Norwegian Lutheran church in Nicollet county was organized
in this township in 1858.
The first school was taught by James Lamm in the autumn of 1856."

James Lamm must have taught my ancestors who arrived in October 1857 from
Illinois!
