There are some wonderful finnish records online. Do you know anything more about him? What his father's name (first and last) was? Which parish (county) he was born in? Finnish records are some of the best you will ever find, but they had a totally different record keeping system than anything you are probably use to. Unfortunately, Mattila was a VERY common farm name.
