The name Koeltgen in the St. Peter area drew my
attention. In my family background there are
Koelfgens, who also settled in the St. Peter area.
Could either one of them be a variation of the same
name. Matthias and Catherine (Klein) Koelfgen are
buried at Middle Lake Cemetery which is located about
8 or 9 miles from St. Peter. A small church still
exists at the site (or at least did in 1996 when I
visited the spot) but is no longer used as far as I
know. According to obituaries, both Matthias and
Catherine were natives of the Grand Duchy of
Luxembourg. According to the tombstone, Mathias died
on March 1, 1876 and Catherine died September 10,
1934. I have a very detailed list of their children,
grandchildren, etc. Their daughter Anna, was married
to Joseph Wintheiser. Mathias and Catherine are
gggrandparents to my husband. If you can see any kind
of connection, let me know and I will investigate
further.
