In the states, the County Recorder might not have the location of the graves.
Death certificates usually do not have that data. If you know the church
in Nielsville (note spelling), try contacting them first. Typically, the
country churches had their own cemeteries. Shelly, MN, is about 5 miles
south of Nielsville, but is in Norman County, which is probably why you
are having some difficulty. For the address of the county offices, do a
yellow pages search for "Polk County" (as the business) in Crookston, MN.
You can also do a category yellow pages search under "churches" for both
Nielsville and Shelly. You will probably find the graves that way. Did
you try writing the Minnesota Public Health Department for copies of the
death certificates?
