My McNeills began in PEI, then some of them ended up in Greenock, Bruce County, Ontario. From there, my branch ended up in Treherne, Manitoba. Some went to Winnipeg...
but as to the Simpson connection...this is what I have:
Thomas McNeil (1816) m. Charlotte Simpson (1812), Margaret Simpson (1759) m. John McNeil (1750)...died in Cavendish, William Simpson McNeil (son of Margaret and John/b.1781, Charlottetown) m. Eliza Townsend...Cavendish
I have the information on several of the McNeil line (you would only be interested in the males as they would carry the McNeil name...but you would need another generation in between, ie, John William McNeill's father...and I don't have any of those names. However, if you'd like and don't have them, I can give you the next generation and then if you do find out who John William McNeill's grandfather was, you'll have the connection. I haven't found any Gillis/Gillies connection yet with my line...but I figure its only a matter of time! Terry
