There is an Edward L. Shaffer (note spelling) that died 18 Oct 1910 in Ramsey
County. Go to <A HREF="http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm">http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm</A>; and check the index.
Henry didn't buy his land from the US Government as there is no record on the
BLM site. You might have to write to Crookston for information or perhaps
someone going to the MNHS can look at a county atlas for you.
