One of my ancestors who settled in Stearns Co was surnamed JAX and her mother's name was Anna Maria SIMON of Colverath, Germany. They attended church in Retterath. These villages are near Coblenz. I have a book I got from Germany named "The Book of RETTERATH" and my entire line of Simon's are in it interspersed with the name SIMONIS. (I just thought SIMONIS was SIMON with a Latin ending on it). There are 15 pages (small type) of SIMON/SIMONIS in this book. If you'd send me the detailed dates for your Jacob Simonis and your Schmit (there are 20-30 pages of those!!!), I'll look to see if they are in this book. If it's a "hit" its your lucky day, because this book I have is amazing. If they got married in Germany, in this area, I can find them together; if they got married in the US, I'd need to know Jacob's birth date to make a positive ID because there are several Jacob Simonis' listed. Same with the wife's dates.
