Darlene
I am glad to know this about abandoned cemeteries. I had not heard of
it. It is great what Annie Smith is doing. Possibly others will do the
same
if they come across an abandoned cemetery.

FOR HIS WIFE MARY BREWSTER. A NEW NEIGHBOR ANNIE SMITH BECAME INTERESTED IN
THE CEMETARY AND INQUIRED ABOUT IMPROVEMENT. SHE FOUND THAT COUNTIES HAVE
AN ANNUAL FEE THAT CAN BE PAID TO A PERSON WILLING TO MAINTAIN ABANDONED
CEMETARIES. SHE ALSO FOUND THAT SHE

HIS HELP. HE CONTACTED THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION IN WASHINGTON DC AND
THIS YEAR RECEIVED NEW TOMBSTONES FOR THE VETERANS TO HONOR THEIR SERVICE.
THEY WILL ALSO DO THE SAME FOR WWI OR WWII VETERANS (ANYONE THAT HAS
SERVICED THEIR COUNTRY). THEY ARE PART

SOME IDEAS ABOUT HOW TO IMPROVE OR RENOVATE THE CEMETARIES THAT YOU HAVE
BECOME INVOLVED WITH.

Kirksville, Mo. There are several Civil War veterans buried there and it is
grown up in brush and stones knocked over and such. My husband and I done
some cleaning around my Great- great but we are only two people! We need
help! Also there are the three Lowe children that were killed in a cyclone
buried there. Their stone reads; (Gone but not forgotten.) It looks like it
has been forgotten! Thank you, Margaret
