I have found this subject very informative for chiggers and ticks. I too have been a victim of these pesks while checking out and also cleaning cemeteries.

I will try some of these new ways of getting rid of them.

I would also like to add to watch for wasp, yellow jacket, and hornet nest. While emptying a barrel left in the cemetery for old flowers I run into a very large wasp nest. The barrel didn't get emptied that time. Also the yellow jackets and hornets sometimes build nest in the ground and you will be in them before you realize they are there. Many people are very allergic to these insects.
