Thank you for keeping us informed.

I've found just browsing, records under the wrong surname entirely and it's not that unusual for the given names and initials not to match either.

I'm wondering, with all the problems finding people due to bad handwriting, spelling, lack of information in the records and just plain not there, is there a possibility they could include more search possibilities such as parents, undertaker, doctor, cemetery, informant, residents State and etc.

This would certainly help when trying to track name changes for the cemeteries and people who died in MO from other States or were buried in other States.

I'm not trying to take anything away from the database and all the good help it is, but we could use it more effectively, if it were even more searchable.

Right now peoples assumption that if the person died in a County, they are from that County and buried in a Cemetery in that County is creating problems for Genealogists and sites such as http://www.findagrave.com.

Since that wonderful MO database

http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/ordb.asp

became available more Cemeteries are being added in the wrong Counties and States than ever before.

Obituaries are also a reason for this. It's not always the Funeral Homes fault, sometimes the survivor's give the wrong information also. Even Cemeteries with signs that have the name spelled correctly will consistently be spelled incorrectly by the funeral homes and they'll locate them in the wrong County also. If the funeral home tries giving the Cemetery address, the newspapers change it to the incorrect information they have been using.

Incorrect information is common in obituaries, especially with Cemeteries of the same name and on or near County and State Lines. The County and State is often left to the readers to decide. Unfortunately, the readers do no research and incorrect information is added everywhere.

We just can't seem to get the correct information made available. Unfortunately, their memories and spelling seem to be as bad or worse than mine.

Thank you again,

Orlena
