I was wondering if anyone had access to a book about the Korean War. My
father SFC Jack Willis Cates from Mo but enlisted out of Washington Co.
Oregon was wounded several times, I believe in about 9-1950 he was wounded
severly and given the highest medal you could get and still live, I was told
there was a book regarding this, I am disabled and unable to get to a
library to see, if anyone might have a book on Korea and could look and see
if there is anything on his wounding, he drove tanks and a garande was
dropped into his (he ended up with a metal plate in his head as a result of
this) even injured he suppossedly still pulled another tank out and thus
saved these men. WE had his medals and a newspaper article on it so it
happened. I would really appreciate any help on this. thank you ever so
much linda We no longer have anything on this, I wrote to St. Louis to
get copies of his records but have never heard back. My father is gone and
his second wife may have his medals but I have lost contact with her.
