Subject: [MO-CW] Need Help

I need help in finding any information regarding my great grandfather that
was killed in the Civil War. This following is all that I know:
My grand father, George Washington White b. April 19, 1860 Poplar Bluff,
Butler Co., MO. was between 3-5 years old when his father (my great
grandfather) was killed in the Civil War. We do not know his name but know he
was born in MO. We think they were still living in Poplar Bluff at the time
of his death, as the story goes, my great grandmother would wash his clothes
and take them to a certain place and he would pick them up. My great
grandmother just getting over the measles was taking his clothes to this
certain place and she got wet from the rain and had what they called a
back-set of the measles and died. An uncle (do not know which side of the
family) came and took my grandfather and his two brothers (not for sure about
the brothers, one named Calvin ??) to live with him. This uncle was also a
doctor.
This is what I am faced with and now you know why I need help. Does any one
have any suggestions where I go from here? ANY HELP will be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Bonita
