Joan, Dependent adult children of Union Civil War vets were eligible for
pensions based on their father's war service (and a few are STILL receiving
such pensions as we speak). It sounds like George probably was eligible to
receive such a pension. Request his file from the National Archives and see
what happens. If there's no pension, it costs you nothing. And go after
that funeral home- there's no good reason for them to censor a 40 year old
