Subject: [MO-CW] John F. Hill
> I am looking for information on my great-great grandfather, John F. Hill,
who lived in Jasper Co. MO in 1880. He was a Confederate Veteran. He was
born in VA in 1824, and married Labany/Labary/Labeny Ellen (Franklin) I
think. There are conflicting data on her last name. Some think her last
name was Alexander. She was born in N.C. in 1826. They had at least 4
daughters. My great-grandmother, Irene, who was born in Iowa in 1854,
Louise, who married a man by the last name of Wooliver, and lived in Galena,
KS, Narcissus who married a man by the last name of Crawford, and lived in
Century, OK, and Melvinia who married Elijah Adams, and moved to Hepner
Oregon. They had one son, Elick, who was killed in the Civil War, as a
young boy, fighting for the Union. I can't find where John F. Hill died,
when he died, or where he is buried. I also am looking for his Military
Records. If anyone has any information on this family, I would surely love
to know. I have been working on !

HILL, JOHN, Private Company A.
This company, known as the "Davidson Guards", was raised in Davidson County
and enlisted at Lexington on May 8, 1861. It marched to Danville, Virginia,
on June 12, 1861, and was assigned to this regiment as Company A. After it
was mustered into the regiment the company functioned as a part of the
regiment, and its history for the was period is reported as a part of the
regimental history.
The information contained in the following roster of the company was
compiled principally from company muster rolls for May 8 - October 1861,
January - April 1863, September - October 1864, and January - February
1865. No company muster rolls were found for November 1861 - December 1862,
May 1863 - August 1864, November - December 1864,
or for the period after February, 1865. In addition to the company muster
rolls, Roll of Honor records, receipt rolls, hospital records, prisoner of
war records, and other primary records, supplemented by state pension
applications, United Daughters of the Confederacy records, and postwar
rosters and histories, all provided useful information
