Searcy's Battalion Missouri Sharpshooters, CSA
Commanded by Col. James Jasper Searcy. Formerly, "Searcy's Regiment Missouri
Cavalry", this regiment became under strength so was dismounted and
downgraded to a battalion.

Tyre Martin NICHOLS buried: Goshen Baptist Cemetery, Wilton, MO, Boone
County born: 14 April 1829 served: CSA Co A, Searcy's Battalion, MO Sharp
Shooters, 1st MO Brigade. Appeared on a roll of prisoners of war of this
Co. commanded by Capt. W.B. Strode, surrendered at New Orleans, La. by
General E. K. Smith, CSA to Maj. Gen. E.R.S. Canby, USA, May 26, 1865 and
paroled at Alexandria, La. June 7, 1865. Name appears in the Columbia
Missouri Statesman newspaper on a list of rebel soldiers from Boone County
having arrived in St. Louis having been discharged on taking the Amnesty
Oath. rank: Pvt. died: 11 July 1865 residence: Wilton, MO, Boone County.
