Can anyone help me with information about the military service
(almost certainly Confederate) of Bejamin F. Dobyns (Dobbyns,
Dobbins) of Columbus (not Columbia), Johnson Co, MO? He was a
doctor, and probably served under Shelby.
I have checked all usual sources, including NARA, the UCD records,
the MO Archives records, the Provost Marshall's reports, the Johnson
Co. histories, oaths, etc., so if he is to be found it will be in perhaps a
regimental or
other history source. There is a possible reference in Edwards' "Shelby and
his Men," but no unit named.
He is not to be confused with Sgt. Benjamin F. Dobyns of Shelby Co,
who has a service record at NARA, or Benjamin F. Dobyns of Audrain
Co., who is in the Provost Marshall's records.
