Bruce, I saw your reference to Reverend Neugent, and I am curious as to his
first name, and where I can find information on him and the "controversial
2nd batallion cavalry MSM"? I have an ancestor by the name of Reverend A.G.
[Andrew] Newgent. We have a letter from the Curry Library in Liberty, MO in
1988 which said, "Rev. Newgent's name first appears in the Minutes of the
Blue River Baptist Association in 1854. At this time he was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Harrisonville, MO, where he remained until 1859." He
became pastor and served until 1861, then until 1865 the Austin Church did
not hold meetings due to the war. There is no mention of Rev. Newgent
following 1861 according to this letter. So I would like to know if this Rev.
Newgent you refer to is the same.? Please place this email on the roots-web
list for me, if I didn't address it properly.
