Would it be at all possible for someone to tell me how/where to obtain Civil
War records of my G-G-grandfather? He was John Jones, lived in Mississippi
and I can only assume that is where he joined/entered the war. I have a
letter he wrote to my G-G-grandmother and he was in Knoxville TN. at that
time (I believe July, 1863) have to go look it up.
I was told by older relatives that he enlist in Tippa County,
Mississippi and died in 1864 in Dalton Georgia. He was in Confederate,
needless to say. I think Mississippi was ALL Confederate Soldiers. I have
also been told that he was in Co. K- 27th reg. MS volunteers. I do not have
a clue how much of this is true....
I would be most grateful if someone had any suggestions. Thanks Laura
