Please would you tell me more about the confederate troops being driven out
of MO? I have records to prove that my gr grandfather, his brothers and
numerous other GATES ancestors were members of 6th MO Cavalry, Co. H. I am
all but certain that my grgr grandfather fought with the same regiment (?) I
have several records for Michael Gates in the above group of men, he would
not have been a young man, having been born in 1811 in KT. However I have
never found my grgrgrandmother after the 1960 Lawrence county census and no
trace what so ever of Michael. Most of the rest of the family removed to
Randolph Co AR. My grgr grandparents appear on no mortality list, and I find
no death or cemetery records for them. Perhaps your answer could provide me
with a clue?
