Subject: [MO-CW] Salt Creek Incident

My late husband had a great-grandfather who was arrested during the Civil War and managed to escape. Family tradition states he was branded on top of the head. Recently, a relative said that the g-grandfather was arrested in what is called the Salt Creek Incident in Missouri. This possibly could have taken place in Clay County, but not sure. Does anyone have more information concerning this incident or know where I can find more information? Thank you in advance.
