Audrian Cato~
I am trying to find a copy of the book "Lost Family - Lost Cause" by Ivan N. McKee. It is about the McGee's and Cato's during the war as you probably know. I have contacted the publisher and they gave me an address for Mr. McKee but said it may be outdated. I sent a letter off to him late last week hopefully I will get a response. My father has the last known copy of the book within the family. Blair McGee was my great-great-great grandfather. I've not been able to find service records on him probably because he was severely wounded in early 1862 and non-combative after that. I do know he was with the Missouri State Guard - I think a 2nd lieutenant - before Missouri was admitted as the 12th Confederate State. After that, the Missouri State Guard disbanded and the Cato's and McGee's were enlisted in the 2nd Missouri Cavalry. If I had a copy of that book I'm sure more information about him is in it. I have read my dad's copy but it's been quite a while. I remember pi!
ctures of Blair and Daniel and their parents Thomas Jefferson and Tabitha Cato McGee. I have found limited information showing pension records exist on Daniel and his widow Anges Burk McGee. Nancy Jane Burk McGee was Agnes' sister and Blair's wife. She remarried after Blair's murder but I'm not sure to whom. I've read Tabitha Cato McGee never forgave Nancy Jane for remarrying. When Blair was killed it happened in front of 12 year old Carolyn McGee. I have read conflicting articles, one says Carolyn was Blair's daughter. I think she was Daniel's daughter. Anyway - she never stepped foot in a room for the rest of her life if it had any likeness of Abraham Lincoln in it. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
