Can anyone tell me how the militia was used during the Civil War? I am
researching Putnam County, MO. I am interested to know things like how they were
used, did they arm and outfit themselves, and did they continue to work their
farms during the day, and be sort of "on-call"...or were they always on active
duty? Any help would be so appreciated.
