Hi Bruce, THANKS for all your help! The Mo State archives was where I got
information that he was in the 27th Mo. Mtd. Inf, But I couldnt find any
information on such a unit! I also went to the State Histotical society at
Colunbia and there was no information there on that unit. When I sent to
NARA I entered his unit as the 27th Mo. Mmtd INF CSA . They marked through
that and showed his service as in Porter's N.E.Missouri I was also able to
get som fragmentary evidence that he had been a POW in Illinois and got out
by joining the Union Navy , serving as a surgeons stewart on the USS
Metacomet. Again I want to thank you. Don Magruder
