Dear List Members,
I did not respond to Kathleen earlier, but I would like to do so
publicly. I belong to at least five other list groups and each one has a
list monitor. It is a thankless job. Like dealing with the public, you can
never please all of the people all of the time. I have very strong and
partisan opinions on most of the stuff we deal with here, but I try not to
let my politics get into my request for information or posting of messages.
Whether you agree with Kathleen's decision or not she was just doing her
job. This list is not for political debate and sometimes it is hard to
discern a message senders motivation.
So I hope we stay civil in our discourse and realize that members on
the other side feels their convictions as passionately as we feel ours. I
am particularly attuned to honoring my ancestors service and my heritage,
but that in no way diminishes anyone else's.

Subject:[MO-CW] From List Admin...

Dear List Members,

I have watched over lists for Rootsweb since 1997 and have never
disappointed a list as much as I seem to have disappointed this one.
My job as a list Admin. is to encourage the list to stay on topic,
the
Civil War in Missouri, help members subscribe and or unsubscribe and
be
a support system to the members.

I made a decision this morning regarding a posting which has caused
this
list to split in half and for that I am truly sorry. I have
received
messages from half of you telling me I made a mistake and then from
almost as many of you stating that they supported me in my decision.

I understand this list is just a little different that others I have

watched over so because of this I am opening the list again and you
are
welcome to post your comments about this mornings postings. I only
ask
one thing...that you don't attack one another due to differences of
opinions.

I appreciate all of the comments I received, both pro and con
towards me
and my decision.

Kathleen Burnett
List Mom
