I have a Downing listed as riding with Quantrill. He was a Capt. and part
of the rear guard at they retreated from the battle of Centralia. His first
name could have been Thomas or William. Thomas is buried in Woodlawn
Cemetery in Independence, MO. A William Downing rode with Cy Gordon and
Fletch Taylor.
