Again, I might be mistaken, but I think the UDC (United Daughters of the Confederacy) might have been formed first. It was certainly one of the leading forces in Southern Heritage in the early days after the War, and is still a strong organization. I think the UDC only admits female descendants of Confederate Veterans.

SCV is shorthand for Sons of Confederate Veterans, a 108 year old
organization of male descendants of Confederate soldiers. Sons of Confederate Veterans
