The South Central Missouri - North Central Arkansas Civil War Roundtable
starts the New Year with a very special meeting this weekend. On Saturday,
January 21, 2006, our group will meet from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the Community
Room of First Simmons Bank, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, with author Rose Mary
Lankford.
Rose Mary will present a program about her book, "The
Encyclopedia of Quantrill's Guerillas." In over 400 pages listing some
1100 persons associated with the man, Mrs. Lankford has compiled the most
complete listing to date of the men who rode with Quantrill during the
Civil War. Her book focuses upon the lives of these men, their families,
personal characteristics and vital statistics. The book also lists battles
and skirmishes in which they participated. She includes research on
Quantrill's men before, during and after the War. Her book includes
documentation of how both governments treated these men through their
policies and General Orders. Rose Mary Lankford is also author of "The
History of Evening Shade, the Place and Its People," and will have copies
of both of these books for sale at the meeting.
As always, you are invited to spend as much or as little time
with us as your schedule permits. This is an informal meeting. If your
interest is genealogy, historical research, artifact hunting or the Civil
War in any part of the United States you will want to attend our meetings
this year. There is no charge to be a member of our group.
