Ah HA, thank you Steve for letting us know where my MO Civil War Vets
records are:

According to the Pension Records I received for Amanda
Hinton/O'Brien/LaMear; her first husband was John O'Brien, a Union Civil
War Vet, died on 14 September 1875 and was buried without a grave marker in
the Irish Settlement Cemetery in Shackleford. John married Amanda Hinton on
7 August 1859 in Pettis County, enlisted with the Missouri Militia Cavalry -
Company D, 7th Missouri Cavalry. His official dates of enlistment were
January 1, 1862 to 1 April 1865; while in service, he contracted chronic
diarrhea (possibly amebic dysentery), malaria and pneumonia several times
requiring hospitalization and he was diagnosed with consumption while he was
in the service. He was discharged in 1865 and suffered from repeated attacks
of these diseases until he died 14 September 1875 in Napton, Saline County,
Missouri.

According to the 300 pages of Pension records I received from the National
Archives, John is buried in the Irish Settlement Catholic Cemetery in
Shackleford, Saline County, MO. - with no grave stone.

Amanda's second husband was Peter Frank LaMear.

Confirmation of Records at State Historical Society, MO
He was wounded at Memphis - 37 engagements from Elk Horn, Mar. 6, 1862 to
Iuka, Miss, Mar 22, 1865. This fight was the last shot fired by the
command. Surrendered - paroled June 5, 1865 at Columbus, Miss.

Peter LaMear also developed consumption and Amanda took him and their
children to Colorado hoping the clear mountain air would cure him.
Unfortunately he died Dec. 1883 in Clear Creek County, Colo.

I am working very hard to get Civil War grave markers for both of these men.

If you have the service records for either or both of them, I would
appreciate receiving them.

Anything you can help me with on these Missouri Civil War Vets will be
appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Margie Hinton (Hinton/Spotts family from Salt Pond, Saline County, MO)

Shirley,

I have access to all of the service records of all the Union and
Confederate regiments from MO. If you would like, I can see what I can find
on Pvt. J.A. Clanton in the next week or two. Let me know if this would
help.

Steve
