I've corresponded with Bartels for a couple of
years now, although I've never met her. She was kind
enough to read through my CW chapters in my book "It
Happened in Missouri". She's quite pro-South, as are
many historians in Missouri, but she's dedicated to
preserving the history of the Trans-Mississippi
Theatre, which is one of my areas of interest.
When I say "pro-South" I don't mean she's biased.
She does good research and doesn't leap to conclusions
like the late Jerry Ponder.
Having not had an ancestor in the CW I'm probably a
minority on this list. I'm a first-generation
immigrant from Canada. I did have an uncle who fought
in WWII and a grandfather who fought in WWI, so my
family did their part in other wars.

regards,

Sean
