Thank you for mentioning this family. I have a feeling that we might
find something...

My ggrandfather whose people came from Bourbon Co., KY originally, was
named:

John HAMMONDS CALHOUN SCONCE, b. 1865 in AR...

I know where the CALHOUN came from, but have often wondered why they
named him HAMMONDS.. my family has also had the discussion on whether
he was HAMMOND[S] or HAMMONS... JHC had a brother named William Daniel
MARIOTT SCONCE... I know where the Daniel came from [his father] and
the MARIOTT was from his mother's maiden name, so I just KNOW that
HAMMOND had a family connection somewhere, and dogged if I am able to
find it!!

JHC's parents wer Daniel Wesley SCONCE and Julia MARIOTT
his grandparents were: Green H. [could this have been HAMMOND??} SCONCE
and Matilda BOYD
his great grandparents were: Robert SCONCE JR and Jane/Jenny MAYFIELD
