According to the Oregon Co History Book:
"WILLIAM S. ALLEN
Wm. ALLEN came to Oregon Co. from TN in the 1830s. One wife was
Elizabeth [STUBBLEFIELD], and she d. He mar. a woman known as "Granny
Blue". One of these women named Mary J. married Wm. in 1845. Although
the number of names of Wm.'s children are not known, (nor are we sure
the children are from his 1st or 2nd wife), it is believed he had at
least 4 sons: Ik (may be the same as Isaac Alvin ALLEN (1851-1941) and
mar. to Elizabeth; Did, Shelton and N. B. (Napoleon Bonaparte
(1851-1941), mar. Emma CLIFT.
The 1840 Ripley Co. census lists W. ALLEN as one of the earliest
settlers....built 1st mill at Mammoth Springs........
In 1845, W. S. ALLEN was named the 1st sheriff and collector for Oregon
Co. and Charles H. ALLEN, believed to be a close relative, was named
the 1st Judge of the Circuit Court.... W. S. represented Oregon Co. in
the MO House of Rep. in 1852, and N. B. was a rep. for the county in
1885.
The 1850 census lists Oregon Co. residents named ALLEN as:
Larkin, age 19; b. Jan 30, 1831 or 33, mar. Naoma Jane ARCHER, Mar 10,
1859
William S.
Nathan, age 56
and
William, age 30
Shelton's sons are believed to be Ike, N.B., known as B. ALLEN
(1869-1946), George M. (June 11, 1863-May 30, 1929), Bill and Hunter.
Shelton had 3 girls who all d. before being married [Lizzy, Jill and
Laura]."
It goes on to tell about the children of Shelton in detail [somewhat].
Hope this helps!
Lanita
I think my family tree is a few branches short of full bloom.
