Lanita,
You may be looking at the date the government okayed the law to give the
land away, not the actual time it was given. Arkansas isn't the easiest
place to research, but I have found several relatives that have received
land. One Civil War uncle who was from Iowa received land near Little
Rock, AR in 1910 as a result of his service. That's a big gap of time.
Nettles can be spelled many ways and I wish you luck.
