I'm still here. Guess the list is really quiet right now. Maybe now is the
time to ask for some help that I have been needing for quite some time. My
gggrandfather, John Hiram Leonidas Moody, fought in the Civil War, but was
buried in Newton County, Missouri. I need a photo of his headstone or at
least whatever information is written on the stone if there is a kind person
out there who doesn't mind doing this kind of thing. He is buried in the
I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Neosho. Here is the information I have:
John Hiram Leonidas Moody, b. 1845 in NC, m. Martha Jane Watson Dec. 12,
1866 in Tuscaloosa County, AL, d. October 29, 1905 in Neosho, Newton County,
MO.
John fought for the 14th Alabama Infantry during the Civil War, and was
taken prisoner at the Battle of Lookout Mountain, a part of the Chattanooga
Campaign. He was imprisoned at Rock Island Arsenal Prison Camp at Rock
Island, Illinois.
An entry found on the Interment.net website for Newton County's I.O.O.F.
Cemetery shows the following listing:
"Moody, H., d. 1/29/05, Age 59 years, Heart Failure, Dr. Lamson, dropped
dead on Spring Street, Transit."
Thank you so very much.
