/Hi Monica

Been thinking more and more about James H. SMITH 32 m, Sophia SMITH, 23, both were supposedly born in Ohio. Do you happen to know where in Ohio? Also, do you happen to know what kind of work James Smith did? Why he would have John Songs and William Rickstrew living with them. It just seems so strange that they are showing as living in two different townships at the same time, with two different families.

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Did James die and Sophia married George Brook? Just trying to get some info that might make sense.

Thanks

Carol

don't know of any relationship to Richstrew (Rickstrew) or Songs, but there
could be one.

Seeking information in regards to my great-grandfather, the elusive and
mysterious John SONGS born 10 March 1837 (?) Ohio (according to census
info). He married 19 March 1863 Polly Ann CHANEY, Andrew County, MO in a
double wedding ceremony with Polly's sister, Mandana CHANEY and Michael
MILLER. Michael MILLER was born about 1842 in MO and was the son of Daniel
MILLER and Polly born 24 April 1842 Andrew County, MO to Samuel P CHANEY and
Jemimah WILLEY (sp?) CHANEY.

John SONGS may have traveled with or even be related to a Wm RICKSTREW or
RAKESTRAW who was born 1840 in Warren Co., OH.

John and Polly SONGS farmed in the Adrian, Jackson County, Kansas area
from approximately 1873 until 1912. John SONGS died due to a farming
accident 01 September 1890, but Polly continued to operate the farm.

1860 Platt Township, Andrew Co, MO, page 110, census shows James H. SMITH
32 m, Sophia SMITH, 23 f, Annie SMITH 7 f, Lora SMITH f, 1, Wm RICHTREES?
(RICKSTREW), 20 m, and John SONGS (could be Long as per typist of census) 25
m, living at same residence. Is there a relationship to Sophia SMITH by
either John SONGS or Wm. RICKSTREW?

July 1860 Rochester Township, Andrew Co., MO, page 78/79, census shows
CHANEY Samuel 37 m, Martha 35 f, Ann 17 f, Amanda 14 f, Sarah 6 f,
William 2 m, Julia 2 months f, Jonathan Songe? 22 m

1870 Census John SONGS living in Lafayette MO

John and Polly SONGS were parents of (1) Mandana SONGS (Albert DUNCAN)
born 1863 in Illinois; (2) Margaret Ellen SONGS (Henry TREZISE) born 1865 MO
; (3) Mary Frances SONGS BORN 1869 MO (John S JACKSON); (4) Elisha L SONGS
born 1876 KS (Lola J PATTERSON); (5) Josephine SONGS born 1884 Emmett, KS
(Daniel Charles PAXTON); (6) Loren Ben SONGS born 1886 Jackson County,
Kansas (Margaret Alice GARDNER and Anne Margret HADDOCK).

Any information to any of these families would be greatly appreciated. I
have much information to share as well on the children of John and Polly
SONGS and their families.

Thank you,

Carol (Songs) Hansing
