Thanks, Monica, you've given me a couple of clues, and also confirmed what I
suspected, that no part of St Joseph lies in Jackson Co. (I actually grew
up in K.C. but had no knowledge of Missouri north of that city. Even though
my Mom had relatives in St. Joseph, there was no contact by the time I was
old enough to be aware of assorted aunts, uncles and cousins.)

I found a Margaret Moore, age 10, in the 1850 census for Weston, Platte Co.,
but by then the Margaret I was searching for had departed (1848-49) by wagon
train for CA with her mother and stepfather, Elisha Brown and two of his
daughters from a prior marriage. (I found this information on WorldConnect
following your identification of Mr. Brown.) So I will pursue CA records
from this point, as I had already identified the family with whom Margaret
was left by her stepfather, who never returned for her. Family lore states
he was killed by a bear in northern CA. We do have record of Margaret's
marriage in San Bernardino on August 12 1857 to a James Ephraim Twitchell,
son of the family who fostered her.

Have lots of experience as a DAR volunteer Lineage Researcher through
assisting others in their efforts for DAR membership, but deeply appreciate
the tips offered. Above all, thanks for identifying the marriage of Thursa
Miller-Moore to Elisha Miller, which has assisted me in cracking this case
wide open.

You're a wonderful information resource, and if I can help you in return,
please call on me.

Marian - WY
