Thanks for your reply. I did not even know about Atchison County and the other Harmons until the other day. The George Harmon that married Catherine Hail is a mystery. In about 1835, Reuben Hail(Catherine's father) moved from Smith County, Tennessee to Greene County, Missouri. Reuben was named guardian of his own children and George Harmon because they inheirited money from another Hail. I guess this means that George was related to Reuben. In 1842 George Harmon married Catherine. Their children were John, Reuben, Sarah, and maybe others. In the 1850 census, George and Catherine were living next to another George Harmon who is about the same age. Are they cousins? Maybe. I would like to know how Reuben Hail is related to the Harmon family---if at all. Reuben was born in 1802 in Tennessee and appears in the 1830 census of Smith County, TN. In 1910, Sarah (George and Catherine's daughter) is living in Oklahoma with husband and kids. In the cen!
sus, she says that her father(George Harmon) was born in Georgia and was a Cherokee!! The 1850 census says that George was born in TN. Do you know the truth? Wish I could tell you more---but that is all I know. If you know more, please let me know. Thanks brian in springfield missouri
