Surname: FAILER, BYLER
-------------------------
FAILER AND BYLER IN BENTON COUNTY.
There is a FALER cemetery south of Cole Camp and near Edmonson and I was
wondering if Faler and Failer could be the same name? Two of us are working
on a history of the area and would like to tie the old families into this
where possible. I was also wondering if FALER or FAILER could be German
because here the name is pronounced with a long A, and I though possibly
the name may have once been spelled Faeler, or Fler. There were a bunch
of Germans who settled in the area around the cemetery.
As regards the Byler name, could this be the family that once owned a grist
mill on in Morgan County near the Benton and Morgan County line? Here the
name is pronounded BOILER, hence Boiler's Mill, although the spelling is
known to have been Byler.
If there are connections any information would be appreciated.
Bob
