Alonzo L. Mayfield, 93 years old of Marble Hill died Sunday at the General Hospital in Chaffee. He was born November 10, 1879 near Scopus, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eli Mayfield. On December 31, 1908 he married Miss Sarah Barks who preceded him in death September 30, 1967. Mr. Mayfield, a retired farmer, was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Scopus. Surviving are four sons, Lynn of Marble Hill, Charlie of Advance, Lester of Leachville, Ark. and Milford of St. Louis; a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Morgan of Lutesville; two sisters, Mrs. Wilma Bley of Lutesville and Mrs. Mary Clare Bollinger of Trenton, Ill.; a half-brother, Marion Mayfield of Luster, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Chapel services were held Monday at Ward Funeral Home and burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Scopus.
