Funeral services for Henry Thele Sr., 72 years old of Leopold, were conducted Monday morning at the St. John's Church, but Rev. J. S. Moser, pastor and burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Thele died Saturday night at 10:30 at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau of a complication of diseases, where he had been a patient since June 14. he had been in ill health for the past 3 years. The body was removed to the Baker Funeral Home and to the family home Sunday.

He was born at Mound City, Ill., December 12, 1862, but spent most of his life in the Leopold community. he was married January 6 (?), 1884 to Miss Francis Arnzen and nine children were born to this union, three sons being dead. Mrs. Thele died October 2, 1916 and Mr. Thele was later married to Mr. Elizabeth Herrel on November 24, 1925, who survives him. (This may be Horrell instead of Herrel) Surviving children are: Mrs. George Elfrink; Mrs. Gerhardt VanDeven; Mrs. Henry Debrock; Joseph; and Henry Thele, all of Leopold, and Mrs. Gerhardt Brauer of Wilhelmina. There are also 35 grandchildren.
